Why are Omega fatty acids from marine source like Tasmanian better for pets than from a vegetable source like Flaxseed oil or Linseed oil?
Dogs and Cats need Omega fatty acids, (Omega 3,6 & 9) in their diet to stay healthy. Not all Omega 3’s is the same. It is the DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) and EPA (Eicosatetraenoic Acid) forms found in marine sources that are more beneficial. The AHA (Alpha-linolenic Acid) form found in vegetable sources such as Flaxseed oil and Linseed oil must first be converted to EPA and DHA (the same form naturally marine sources are) to be beneficial to Dogs and Cats as they lack the enzymes need to convert a vegetable source effectively.

Dogs and Cats also need the correct balance of Omega 6 (Linoleic Acid) to Omega 3 (Linolenic Acid). The problem is they generally get enough 6 and AHA Omega 3 through their normal food but not enough marine sourced Omega 3 (DHA and EPA). Omega 3 fatty acids (DHA & EPA are more effective than ALA at reducing joint inflammation.
