According to information received by the Author a few years ago, the aircraft did exist and was removed and placed in a southern museum, although this has not been substantiated.

Based on a true story of the crew and their skipper of a small 29-ton schooner, ‘The Nightingale’, bound from Sydney to Bowen, Queensland, Australia. The small ship encountered a tropical cyclone and was grounded and dismasted off a small island on the Whitsunday coast in February 1864. The crew eventually made it to the mainland in a small boat where they were captured by a wild tribe of Aborigines. The men were enslaved for a period of time and eventually escaped to tell of their experiences, but not before their captain died of spear injuries.
